Please note that because official fees and exchange rates fluctuate it is advisable always to obtain a specific quotation near to a due date.
No Authorisation (Power of Attorney) is required for any purpose unless replacing the Applicant or a previously appointed Attorney.

At additional cost of Eur 102 per country it is possible to extend the European Patent to Albania, Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, Bosnia Herzegovina, Lithuania and Latvia. By far the greatest cost following grant of a European Patent is translation of the entire Specification (only the claims in the case of an extension state) into an official language of each designated country where patent protection is to be maintained. This must be done within 3 months of grant. Costs for the U.K., Germany and France have however been reduced by the coming into force of the London Agreement. See separate news item. Annuities are payable to the European Patent Office from the second anniversary of the date of filing until grant. After grant annuities are payable to the national Patent Offices of designated countries. Opposition to a European Patent at the European Patent Office is possible within 9 months of the date of grant. |

The European Patent, on grant, can be converted into national Patents in 32 European countries including all members of the European Union and others such as Switzerland, Sweden and Turkey, and can be extended to 7 others. The Community Trade Mark and Registered Design are unitary and extend, without choice, to all countries of the European Union but no others.
The inclusive cost of any Patent or Trade Mark matter can be reduced by £100 or £50, respectively, if payment accompanies the instruction or reaches me at least one week before a due date.
