CV
My name is Peter Lambert. I was born, and have always lived, in England although I have travelled abroad on business extensively and worked for six months in New Zealand.
I became fully qualified in 1982, following 9 years service in the Patent Department of Dunlop Limited, where I worked primarily for the Aerospace Division on such matters as carbon fibre braking systems for aircraft. I was also involved in the “Denovo” run-flat tire project.
Immediately upon qualifying I established my own private practice. In the late ‘80s I was instrumental in setting up the first patent insurance scheme, intended to fund patentees who could not otherwise afford to litigate when faced with infringement. I acted as Loss Adjuster for the insurers in numerous cases when claims were made.
During the ‘90s I was extensively involved in the entertainment applications of virtual reality. This pioneering work attracted a great deal of publicity and laid the foundations of many modern applications.
In 2001 I moved my practice to the city of Leicester, employing in succession three Technical Assistants, two of whom subsequently took positions abroad and a third of whom has recently qualified. The workload was very varied, coming both from a British clientelle and from associates overseas, chiefly in the Antipodes but also Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Africa and Latin America.
In 2005 I merged with a much larger firm but found that I was not happy in the “corporate environment” and left in 2006. Since then I have found that many of my former British clients as well as overseas contacts wish me to continue to represent them and I am now operating a more modest practice from my home.
I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a European Patent Attorney. I am a Registered Trade Mark Attorney and am on the lists of Professional Representatives at OHIM, the body which administers Community Trade Mark and Design Registrations (which extend to the whole of the EU).
I deal mainly with engineering subject matter but in modern technology this necessarily overlaps into electronics, computer science, chemistry and even bio-chemistry. I have drafted patent specifications for subjects ranging from virtual psychiatry to internet gambling and submersible vehicles to robot farm machinery.
As well as having a wealth of experience I have been obliged, like all Patent Attorneys, to keep abreast of technological developments in all fields as well as the rapidly changing evolution of intellectual property law world-wide.
